Cabot Deck Stain come in a variety of finishes and colors. Transparent, Semi-Transparent, Semi-Solids, and Solid Wood Stains are available in multiple colors. Each will enhance the wood's natural beauty while protecting from Rain, UV Exposure, Mildew, Mold, and Other Natural Elements. You can use Cabot Wood and Deck Stains for:

When choosing a wood or deck stain it is important to understand the differences associated with each type of stain.

Transparent Wood and Deck Stains are the lightest pigmented. These are also called wood toners and will enhance the woods natural beauty. They typically offer the least amount of UV protection from graying as the trans oxides are usually low. 100% penetrating and offer the most natural look.

Semi-Transparent Wood and Deck Stains are higher in pigment and trans oxides. They still penetrate into the wood but have a higher ability to stop UV discoloration. Typically are "richer" in color then the Transparent Stains.

Semi-Solid Wood and Deck Stains are much higher in pigment. Containing the most pigment and trans oxides, they are just a step below a solid stain. You will still see the natural grain of the wood. They semi penetrate into the wood while slightly filming on or near the surface.

Solid "Opaque" Wood and Deck Stains are not transparent at all. They will mask or cover the wood similar to a paint but are thinner in consistency so they will penetrate into the wood cells. They will film form on top of the wood and are prone to peeling eventually. They offer the best UV protection from graying.
